What Is Kubernetes Security?
Kubernetes security refers to the measures and practices implemented to protect the Kubernetes container orchestration system and the applications running within it from potential security threats. As Kubernetes has become the de facto standard for managing containerized applications, ensuring its security is crucial for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality and availability of the applications and the underlying infrastructure. The key aspects of Kubernetes security include: authentication and authorization, network security, container security, secrets management, logging and monitoring, updates and patching, security policies and auditing and disaster recovery and backup.
It’s important to note that Kubernetes security is a multifaceted topic and each aspect requires careful consideration and implementation. Additionally, adopting a defense-in-depth approach, where multiple layers of security measures are implemented, is highly recommended to create a more resilient and secure Kubernetes environment.
