Envoy AI Gateway becomes Agent Router and joins the Agentic AI Foundation

For Open Source Agent Router Users

Keep the Gateway You Run. Add the Controls You Need.

Tetrate Agent Router Enterprise runs the same Envoy-based gateway as the open source Agent Router you have today. You configure it from a console and an API instead of YAML, and one management plane covers every cluster you run. You add SSO, guardrails, budgets, and chargeback.

What Do I Keep? The Proxy and the API.

The data plane is Envoy, the same proxy under your open source gateway. Your apps call the same OpenAI-compatible API, so moving a team means changing a base URL and a key. Your provider accounts don't change. Your Envoy Gateway runbooks still apply. What you set up again: routing and provider config move from YAML into the Admin Console, and keys are issued per project. The Enterprise data plane runs in a cluster of its own, beside your current gateway, so you move traffic a team at a time. Full list in the setup guide.

What Do I Add? The Parts That Reach Across Teams.

You have today You add with Agent Router Enterprise
Quotas and rate limits per gateway Budgets and rate limits by project, key, team, and user, shared across every gateway
Routing and credentials in YAML you apply Routing policies, providers, and MCP access profiles set in one console or API
JWT identity from your own provider Enterprise SSO through Okta, Entra ID, OIDC, or SAML
Metrics and traces over OpenTelemetry Per-key cost logs, dashboards, showback and chargeback
Guardrail hooks in the data plane Runtime guardrails with PII redaction and policy enforcement
Community releases CVE-patched builds on a maintained release train
Discord and GitHub issues 24/7 support with an SLA and a named account team

How Long Does It Take? An Afternoon to Evaluate.

The Fast Track Eval runs fully managed, so there's nothing to install. First routed request about 15 minutes after onboarding, a small team and a cost readout by the end of the day. Your open source gateway keeps running the whole time. When you're ready to keep traffic in your own network, you add a self-hosted data plane. That goes in a cluster of its own, with a Tetrate engineer on the call.

Who Supports Me? The People Who Wrote the Code.

Tetrate engineers maintain the open source project. When your ticket reaches us, the fix can land upstream. You get 24/7 support with an SLA, a named account team, and a release train that ships CVE fixes on a schedule you can plan around.

Running aigw on a Laptop or for One Team?

Agent Router Service is the hosted version of that endpoint. Sign up, create a key, and point your client at https://api.router.tetrate.ai/v1. You pay the model's price plus a 5% routing fee, from a credit balance. No cluster. Start Building

The data plane is the part you can already have

Tetrate builds the Agent Router project (formerly Envoy AI Gateway), an open source AI gateway at the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). Agent Router Enterprise runs that same gateway. No proprietary data plane, no crippled community build, nothing held out of the project so we can sell it back.

Agent Router was started by engineers at Tetrate and Bloomberg. Tetrate led the work to bring Envoy to AI builders, and Agent Router Enterprise runs that same gateway.

Nothing to install. Your open source gateway keeps running, and you keep it either way.
